I found the story of Kurt Warner to be an amazing one as I looked over his bio and career. His college career was at Northern Iowa. He was originally signed by the Green Bay Packers as undrafted free agent in 1994. This is a man who has won MVP awards Superbowls and at the age of 37 might be up for another MVP. This story is a quiet one overshadowed by Brett Favre. With year he is having this year the doors of the Hall of Fame should open for him.

Warner has led the Arizona Cardinals from an 8-8 finish a year ago, to a 7-3 start this season. They need only one more win to clinch the NFC West.

A former two-time M.V.P., he is second to only to Drew Brees in passing yards with 3,155 and has more touchdowns (20) than anyone in the NFC, while managing only to throw seven interceptions. His quarterback rating is 105.5, best in the NFL, and more than five points higher than his nearest competition. He has had six 300-yard passing performances, including the past four games.

If Warner wins the league's MVP award this season, he and Brett Favre would be the NFL's only three-time winners. He owns a Super Bowl ring. His all-time passer rating of 94.6 is second only to Steve Young (96.8) and he's topped 300 yards in 45.6% of his career games, by far the highest rate in NFL history. The thing that's hurting Warner most is longevity. His 27,163 yards sound impressive until you consider Dan Marino's 61,361. Warner would enhance his chances by posting several more strong seasons.

Hopefully Warner will stick it out a few more years. After taking over last year he played a good part of the season with torn ligaments in his non-throwing elbow. Most guys would have never stepped on the field. That was a story within itself last year. When you do make up your mind Kurt on whether you will stay and play football or leave the game forever, I am sure secondary defenders will rejoice.
